Lately, the entertainment biz has a lack of successors. Fiona Xie, Joanne Peh, Felicia chin, Apple Hong are showing potential to become future ''ah jies''. On the other hand for male artistes, the newcomers did not seem to have any breakthrough. Thus, the male lead roles are often played by the same people. Nevertheless, there are two potentials listed for future ah ges. One is Shaun Chen and the other is Qi Yuwu. Today, Yuwu will be the focus for this week.

Boy next door to macho hunk, popularity shooted up

In China's star search in 1999, Yuwu won it hands down and came to Singapore to join Star Search. That year, Jeff Chang was the Champion. However, MCS signed on Qi Yuwu. He delayed a year as he has to complete his course in university first.

At that time, his acting was quite raw. However, his looks has gained him notice from many fans. His roles were often minor ones and did not give much impression. His first breakthrough was ''Bukit Ho Swee''. However, the show did not receive much recognition from the audience and has poor ratings. Until ''Room in my heart'', it confirmed Yuwu's excellent acting skills and even boosted Fiona Xie's acting career. ''The Champion'' caused Yuwu's popularity to shoot up to a peak as he became from boy next door to a macho hunk. His luck changed and became one of the potential ah ges, with his looks and acting skills.

Besides work, he's quiet and doesn't like to express much
After finishing filming 3g show ''PS I luv u'', Yuwu said besides acting with Fiona Xie again, it's his first time acting with Taiwanese actress, Chen Yi Rong.

Alot of artistes feel that Yuwu has a double personality, especially offscreen and onscreen. Yuwu clarified that his personality was quiet in nature. However if his work needs him to display a different side of him, he will definitely do it well. He said that other than work, he did not spend much time hanging out with his colleagues.

Chen Yi Rong described him as a cup of warm water, which means it's hard to get hold of his true personality. Regarding that, Yuwu said that he's not a v complicated person and will not tend to think too much on the things he's doing. He explaned that he's not one who likes to express himself and thus, people find it hard to grab hold of what he's thinking.

''PS I luv U'' is mainly narrating the love story between Chen Yi Rong and Qiu Ze. Will Yuwu be afraid of being just a supporting role? About this., Yuwu said he never thought of it and he's quite open in fact. As long as the role is challenging and the experience is different, he will not hesitate to take it on.

Female stars that he admired - Fann Wong & Xia Ling Ling

Yuwu is busy filming ''Leap of Love'' and ''The Axis of Truth'' recently. Thus, he has quite alot of contact with Wong Li Lin, Rui En, Wang Yu Qing.

He admires female stars that put in lots of effort into their work. Examples will be Fann Wong and Xia Ling Ling and Yuwu said that he learnt alot of things from them.

It's almost been 6 years since he entered showbiz and the shows that he acted are too much to be counted. He admits ''I'am not someone who will be picky on my roles as all of them are challenges to me''.

Past and present - Confidence increases, acting skills improved
Yuwu feels that he has improved. ''Such things, You can feel it yourself. As compared to the past, I feel more confident about my acting now and feels that it's more natual.

After being ask how he will grade himself, Yuwu declined to answer the question. He said that he has no right to grade himself as it should be the audience who should do so.

Yuwu said that he has no favourite roles so far as he hopes his next role will be better than his present one. When asked which role he's not happy with, he said ''Last time, I feel that I'am not mature enough. An example is ''My Genie''.''

Lastly, he admits that he does not like to be called an Ah Ge. ''I've never thought of being an Ah Ge as I feel that. I only want to give the best shot in everything I do.''

Conclusion
Yuwu is definitely a v quiet artiste and he speaks really softly. He's not someone who likes to talk alot nor act cool. He has lots of passion in his work. For the past 15 mins, he has little variations in his facial expressions too.
