* Monday, April 11, 2005 * Source: I-Weekly Issue 77 Jerry Qi, Qi Yuwu Not Leslie Cheung No. 2 Student, 22 years old, 1.81m Now into his 4th year of majoring physical education in university, this year is a wonderful year for him. He outshone the rest in the finals of Guangzhou's "Advertisement's New Star", crowned as the champion and was subsequently chosen to represent Guangzhou's "Star Search". In this one year, he has developed an interest in acting and is starting to feel that appearing on screen is such an exciting feeling. He admitted that he will be facing the choice of choosing his career path after his graduation and "Star Search" came at the right moment. Main Purpose Of Joining The Competition: Curiousity, this compeition is quite meaningful and there's also a chance to come to Singapore. I feel that I am quite talented in this aspect, hope to challenge myself and it will also be a memorable experience to reminisce. The Role He Wish To Act: Any role that I am capable of as I would do all the preparation before shooting a scene/drama. I feel that I have the gift for acting. I do not wish to be stuck in a specific role/character as that would be very boring. Whom He Hope To Act Opposite In A Movie: Tony Leung Chiu Wai. The Road To Stardom In His Opinion: Hot--Cold--Hotter. His Winning Strategy: Fast reaction and a lot of self-confidence. Who's Is His Strongest Competitor? Jimmy Fu whom has a lot of stage experience. Chen Hanwei, the stylist's view: He is the quietest among the male contestants, very cool and looks very good on screen. He is also the big brother among the contestants, always taking care of the rest. ___________________________________________ Source: 8 days Jerry Qi YuWu The boyish 22-year-old, the youngest among the overseas contenders, has the brash confidence of youth on his side. With his clean-cut model looks, a strapping frame and easy smile, this ex-jock (Jerry majored in PE) has all the trappings of a future matinee idol. Just dreamy. WHAT HE'D SACRIFICE TO WIN ON SUNDAY "All my time. Even though time is very precious to me." STRATEGY FOR THE SHOWDOWN "My youth. Because I'm young and don't know much. I'm more relaxed when it comes to dealing with difficult situations. And determination. From my sporting experience, I realise that determination can decide whether you win or lose." GIVEN A CHOICE OF ROLES AMONG: THE INVINCIBLE EAST; XIAO MAGE AND NING CAICHEN; HE'D PICK... "Ning Caichen. I like the character and am more familiar with emotional roles." THREE ADJECTIVES THAT BEST DESCRIBE HIM? "Active. Curious. Happy." WHAT WE SAY He acts and looks almost too good to be true. We need to know if there's depth to his smooth, unruffled surface. FEARLESS FORECAST Vincent Ng's failure to win in '95 doesn't bode well for pure brawn.
